Easy super hero cape

My 4 year wanted a super hero party and I decided to make capes for everyone and get fabric markers for them to decorate!!

Making these capes are super easy!!!! first you need fabric.. I picks a satin with glitter from the costume fabric section but about any fabric would do.

I bought 6 yards and cut very carefully to get twelve capes for children in elementary school. If you want a long cape get a yard and you will have extra fabric other wise 1/2 a yard is enough for one cape

What I did was cut out this stretched out trapezoid shape. I made the top edge 6.5 inches and the bottom edge 26 inches each diagonal line was also around 26 inches

If you have a cutting mat and rotary cutter the cutting is easier however scissors work just fine!

for the ties I held two strands of 4 ply yarn together and made a long chain using a J hook the chain measures   46 inches. if you don't know how to crochet using 1/2 inch thick ribbon works too, however yarn is cheaper!

if you want to prevent fraying you need to fold 1/4 inch and pin and sew around the entire cape.

since I had to make so many I skipped this step

fold the top end of the cape over the yarn tie, make sure the tie is centered

You can sew this by hand if you don't have a machine.

make sure to sew a few zig zags so the yarn tie can not be pulled out.

Enjoy your new cape!
